Nurses make the backbone of the health care sector where in collaboration with other disciplines they provide preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare services. Nurses make a key work force component in all health care facilities at all levels (basic to specialized hospitals)
Example of Responsibilities of a KRCHN nurse
- Conduct physical exams
- Provide emergency to patients(first aid, resuscitation)
- Take detailed health care histories
- Administration of drugs
- Listen to patients and analyze their physical and emotional needs
- Provide counseling and health care education to patients
- Coordinate care with other health care providers and specialists
- Stay current with advances in health care options, medications, and treatment plans
- Draw blood, and perform other health-related testing
- Check a patient’s vital signs
- General care and monitoring of the progress of the admitted patients
- Provision of antenatal care to pregnant mothers
- Provision of family planning services to couples
- Provision of immunization services to adults and children
- Conducting deliveries and provide post-delivery care
- Operate various medical devices and equipment used in care delivery
- Others depending with the setting care

REQUIREMENTS:
- KCSE Certificate – Mean grade C (plain) or above
- English/Kiswahili language: C (plain) or above
- Biology: C (plain) or above
- Mathematics/Physics/ Chemistry: C-(minus)
