PCEA Chogoria Hospital was established in 1922 and serves as a referral and teaching Hospital. It has a 295 bed capacity that focuses on the provision of Curative, Preventive and Promotive Health Care services in Tharaka Nithi County and the greater Meru, Embu and as far as Isiolo and Marsabit Counties.

We are seeking to fill the following positions:

Internal Auditor (1 Post)

Job Purpose: Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer, the Internal Auditor’s main responsibility will be to add value and improve the Hospital’s operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management and control processes.

Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Designing, reviewing, and developing audit techniques and procedures for assessing comprehensive financial and systems audit reporting
  • Review and appraise the soundness and efficiency of all systems of controls including financial, operational and internal control systems and procedures.
  • Preparation of periodic and annual Audit reports and plans for hospital activities
  • Reviewing of Internal controls and making recommendations to the Director for Board approval
  • Follow up of external Auditors recommendations
  • Perform independent audits within the Hospital concentrating on high risk areas.
  • Assess the systems laid down to ensure that they are compliant with statutory regulations.
  • Identify problems and recommend remedial actions and best practices.
  • Issuing reports on findings of audits which highlight issues and potential impacts on business.
  • Ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
  • Carry out account and record reconciliations and other related records in operations and finance.
  • Conducting any other audit assignments as directed by management.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills.

  • Business related degree preferably B.Com, Business Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Must be a CPA (K)and member of professional body
  • At least five years’ experience in internal audit preferably in a similar setting.
  • Sound commercial knowledge of Hospital operations and processes.
  • Experience in preparing audit reports an added advantage.
  • Good computer and communication skills

Management Accountant (1 Post)

Job Purpose: Management Accountants look after a Hospital’s accounts. They advise about the financial implications of business decisions to aid growth and profit.

Duties & Responsibilities.

  • preparing reports, budgets, commentaries and financial statements
  • undertaking financial administration and assist in internal audits
  • liaising with managerial staff and other colleagues
  • supervising a team of finance staff
  • developing and managing financial systems/policies
  • negotiating and obtaining finance for major projects
  • controlling and forecasting income and expenditure
  • Creating business strategies to generate shareholder value.
  • Make forecasts to assist business planning and decision-making
  • Assist the company in managing its investment portfolio

Minimum Qualifications and Skills.

  • Business related degree preferably B.Com, Business Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Must be a CPA (K)and member of professional body
  • Proven experience as Management Accountant, Accounting Supervisoror similar role
  • Solid knowledge of basic and advanced accounting and financial principles and practices

Marketing & Public Relations Officer (1 Post)

Job Purpose: He/ she will be responsible for handling all aspects of planned publicity campaigns and public relations activities.

Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Brand, communicate and position the Hospital as a Hospital of choice through use of branded items such as brochures, banners, flyers and advertising.
  • Execute effective Media relations and identify opportunities to participate in media through ensuring availability of required media content such photo coverage, developing media invites and develop media contents.
  • Execute a vibrant digital presence through the Hospital’s website and social media. This entails managing Face book pages, Twitter and ensuring constant posting in social media to keep it active.
  • Assist in media monitoring and record topical issues by tracking trends through newspaper, online news sources and other competing publications.
  • Help maintain solid customer relationships by handling customer questions and concerns online on time and with professionalism.
  • Assist in the creation of social media policy and brand manuals that guide its usage and expected outcomes.
  • Regular marketing activities of the Hospital’s services through relevant outlets

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma in Public Relations, Journalism skills or any related field.
  • Membership to Public Relations Society of Kenya is an added advantage
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience in a similar set up an added advantage.
  • Certificate in Computer applications from a recognized institution.

Social Worker (1 post)

 The duties and responsibilities of the Officer will be as follows amongst others:-

  • Provide psycho- social support to patients and their relatives.
  • Counseling of Patients and relatives.
  • Placement of abandoned patients through networking with other social support Agencies.
  • Supervision and guidance of students on attachment.
  • Plan and organize post hospitalization care and support.
  • Participate in home based care programs and rehabilitation of patients and relatives.
  • Repatriation of stranded patients.
  • Ensuring compliance with the set standard operating procedures

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma Social Work from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in social work and community development and / or in an NHIF accredited health facility.
  • Certificate in Computer applications from a recognized institution.
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Good reporting skills
  • Coordinating skills; able to plan, set priorities and follow ups
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Presentation skills, able to speak in public

Accounts Assistants (4 Posts)

Job purpose: Reporting to the Financial Accountant the Accounts Assistant will be responsible for the entry of data, verification of financial and accounting information in the Hospital’s Management information system and ensure that the entire primary financial and accounting transactions at their level comply with hospital’s procures, policies and guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Input and verify data in the Management Information System (MIS)
  • Carry out reconciliations and ensure accuracy and up-dating of bank, loan and savings records
  • Raise journal vouchers to correct errors in the MIS
  • Generate accurate, useful and timely reports for information and decision making
  • Maintain accounting records within set standards
  • Prepare relevant vouchers as required and with all supporting documents
  • Receive and verify payment claims and supporting documents
  • Ensure compliance with Hospital’s policies and procedures on all financial and accounting transactions
  • Maintain assets and resources under their custody in good condition.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • CPA II Holder
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a busy Accounting Department preferably a Hospital setup
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in use of computerized accounting systems and Microsoft suite packages

ICT Technologist (1 Post)

Job purpose: Reporting to the ICT Manager, the IT Technologist’s main responsibility will be to diagnose, repair and maintain hardware and software components to ensure the smooth running of computer systems in the Hospital. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the Hospital Information systems in order to achieve efficient usage of the application, and ensure that accurate and timely reports are produced by the users.
  • Sort out user problems (Software and Hardware) as presented by users at the IT Help Desk.
  • Carry out Daily, Weekly and Monthly backups for the processes management systems, and ensure that the backup media are kept in safe custody as required.
  • Assist in carrying out Daily and Monthly backups for other software applications in use at the hospital as may be assigned
  • Maintenance and preventative and troubleshooting of Hospital equipment
  • Production of hospital forms for various uses e.g. request forms, prescription forms, case sheets etc
  • Assisting in sorting out problems in the ICT network
  • Installing of new software/programs in the computers.
  • Retrieving back up files for hospital and reports
  • Ensuring network system is running well on day-to-day basis.
  • Maintains and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

 Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum Diploma in Information Technology from recognized institution.
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 1 year  experience in a busy Department preferably a Hospital setup
  • Proficiency in Hardware and Software troubleshooting and preventive maintenance is critical
  • Microsoft Certified Engineer (MCSE) or CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) will be an added advantage
